A Green Pasture, J.N. |
|
The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want.(Ps. 23:1) The Lord loves me, He longs to fill my hunger and quench my thirst. A Christian brother once shared with me, A day without God's speaking is a wasted day. Since becoming a Christian, I have loved reading the Bible. Yet, many of the words I did not understand. Maybe I understood them literally but I believed there was something deeper. I longed to know the deeper meaning of the Lord's Word. Not until I began meeting with the local church did God's Word start opening up to me. One book that really helped me was a volume for the Life-Study of the Bible by Witness Lee. In that study, he went book by book, verse by verse through the entire Bible making clear the divine revelation regarding life. I started with Genesis. In the past, the Old Testament was a very hard and boring book to me. Yet, with the help of the Life-Studies I started to understand what the spiritual meanings of the many stories there are. Discovering the meaning of each sign, type, and figure, really aroused my interest for reading the Bible. As a Christian, I wanted to be nourished by the Lord's Word every morning. I received much help and nourishment from another publication done by Witness Lee, which is, called the Holy Word for Morning Revival. For each day of the week, there are two or three verses to read and a related portion of commentary from the Life-Study messages that opens up the verses. I enjoyed reading with prayer the verses with other sisters every morning before I went to school. In this way, the Lord fed me every morning. Another Christian author who rendered me much help is Watchman Nee. I especially like his writings on life and experience. This brother experienced the cross in a deep way and thus, he became a person that could be used by the Lord. His writing and ministry is full of the fragrance of a life poured out upon the Lord. |
